RPA is crafting a long-range vision for the region's shared prosperity, health and livability, resiliency and good governance. This plan, the fourth in the organization’s nearly 100-year history, will propose solutions to some of the New York metropolitan area’s biggest challenges and influence how we develop as a region over the next half century. Innovative design solutions are an essential part of refining our recommendations and building support for them. These design proposals need to be grounded in specific places but also strategic enough to be applied across the region and over the long term.
In partnership with RPA, Paul Lewis and Guy Nordenson of Princeton University, a jury of leading designers will select four teams to visualize the implications of the plan’s goals for development, transportation infrastructure, resiliency and open space conservation across varied landscapes. Selection will be based on professional experience and understanding of this unique challenge.
This effort will be launched on January 20, 2017. Teams will be selected in time for the work to be completed over the spring of 2017 and incorporated into the fourth regional plan’s release in the fall. An exhibit in conjunction with the release of the plan is anticipated.
